This role is responsible for preparing accurate and competitive cost estimates, reviewing drawings and specifications, and coordinating with vendors, project managers, and clients to ensure successful project delivery.
Key Responsibilities:
Review blueprints, specifications, and bid documents for fire alarm, security, access control, CCTV, and other low-voltage projects.
- Prepare detailed estimates, including material, labor, and equipment costs.
- Solicit and evaluate vendor and subcontractor pricing.
- Identify cost-saving opportunities, design alternatives, and value-engineering options.
- Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and clients during the pre-construction and bidding process.
- Maintain organized and up-to-date records of all estimates, pricing, and bid results.
- Stay informed on industry trends, materials, codes, and manufacturer standards.
- 2 years of experience as an estimator in electrical, fire alarm, or low-voltage systems.
- Strong knowledge of NFPA codes, NEC requirements, and industry best practices.
- Proficiency with estimating software (McCormick, Bluebeam, or similar).
- Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
- Ability to handle multiple bids and meet deadlines with accuracy and efficiency. Detail-oriented with a strong understanding of system design and installation processes.
