Qualifications
Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education licensure as Principal/Assistant Principal (PreK–8 or 5–12)
Master’s degree in Education, Educational Leadership, or a related field from an accredited college or university
Successful teaching and administrative experience, preferably at the middle school level
Demonstrated leadership experience as an assistant principal, principal, instructional leader, or similar role
Demonstrated ability to lead instructional improvement, support diverse learners, and build a positive school culture
Strong communication and collaboration skills with students, families, and staff
Knowledge of Massachusetts curriculum frameworks, educator evaluation systems, and state and federal regulations related to special education and student services
Commitment to fostering a safe, inclusive, and supportive learning environment for all students
Job Description
The Principal of Lynnfield Middle School serves as the instructional and operational leader of the school and is responsible for advancing the mission of Lynnfield Public Schools. The principal works collaboratively with students, families, staff, and district leadership to promote academic excellence, student well being, and a strong sense of culture and community.
Lynnfield Middle School serves students in grades 5-8 and supports their academic, social, and emotional development. The principal leads a dedicated staff in providing a rigorous and engaging learning environment while ensuring that all students feel connected to the school core values of kindness, effort, and citizenship.
The principal reports directly to the Superintendent of Schools and works closely with the district leadership team to ensure alignment with district priorities related to teaching and learning, student support, school culture, and the district’s strategic plan.
Primary Responsibilities
Instructional Leadership
Provide leadership in the development and implementation of high quality instructional practices aligned with Massachusetts Curriculum Frameworks
Support teachers through supervision, evaluation, and professional growth opportunities in accordance with the district’s educator evaluation process
Analyze student achievement data to guide instructional improvement and ensure student progress
Collaborate with district leaders and staff to maintain strong curriculum alignment and articulation across grade levels
School Culture and Student Support
Cultivate a positive, respectful, and inclusive school culture that promotes belonging for all students and staff
Promote student engagement and well being by supporting social emotional learning and positive behavioral practices
Maintain a safe and orderly learning environment that supports academic success and personal growth
Ensure appropriate services and supports for all students, including those with disabilities, English learners, and students requiring additional academic or social emotional support
Work closely with student services personnel to ensure compliance with state and federal regulations
Personnel Leadership and Operations
Recruit, supervise, and evaluate staff assigned to the middle school
Promote high professional standards while supporting staff development and collaboration
Conduct faculty meetings and foster open communication among staff
Oversee the daily operation and management of Lynnfield Middle School
Work with district administration on budget development, resource allocation, and facility needs
Serve as a member of the district’s administrative leadership team
Participate in district committees and initiatives as assigned
Ensure implementation of district and School Committee policies
Family and Community Engagement
Maintain strong communication with families and encourage meaningful parent and community involvement
Participate in district committees and initiatives as assigned
Support the work of parent organizations and school-based committees
Serve as a visible and accessible leader within the school community
Salary Range
$150,000 - $170,000, commensurate with experience and qualifications
Comprehensive benefits package including health, dental, retirement, and paid leave in accordance with district policy and applicable contracts
Full-year administrative position beginning July 1, 2026
