Metallurgical Lab Technician
Performs general metallographic lab duties supporting resistance welding. Inspection of actual production parts will be required as well. This individual reports directly to the Resistance Welding Engineer. Occasionally the individual will also support Fusion Welding for metallographic evaluation, and for physical part inspection. Lastly, the individual may support the quality department regarding general compliance and documentation activities.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following.
Prepare metal specimens for evaluation to requirements (microstructure, surface contamination, weld quality, etc.) in accordance with customer and industry standards.
Use and calibration of metallographic microscope(s). Conduct routine microscopic examinations of metals and alloys (micro and macro conditions) in accordance with customer and industry standards.
Shall assist in customer and third party (i.e. NADCAP) audits related to internal and vendor process control activities.

Education and/or Experience
-Must be able to communicate fluently in English (read, write, verbal).
-High School Diploma
-Minimum 2 year technical degree in related field is preferred.
-Minimum 2 years metallurgical laboratory experience is preferred.
-Documented training or experience in a related field.
-Proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel at a minimum.
-Knowledge and/or experience with aerospace fusion and resistance welding highly desirable.
-An entry level position would be considered for an individual with a high degree of technical skill.
Job Type: Full-time, 7:00 AM - 3:30 PM, Monday - Friday.
