Residential House Manager

Job Summary

We are looking for a detail-oriented, dependable House Manager to keep our home running smoothly. This person will maintain organizational systems, manage day-to-day household tasks, and help create structure for our family. The role calls for someone who works well independently, holds a high standard of cleanliness, and communicates proactively.

Responsibilities

Kitchen

• Review the day's task list and priorities each morning
• Empty and load the dishwasher from the night before
• Wipe down counters, surfaces, appliances, and the dining table
• Sweep and vacuum main level floors and rugs. Wet Swiffer the kitchen floor daily
• Clean and set up the coffee maker for the next morning. Restock coffee, tea, and sweetener
• Set out ingredients and equipment for that night's dinner and print the recipe

Refrigerator and Pantry

• Clear out leftovers and expired food every Monday
• Wipe down the inside of the refrigerator weekly
• Date and store leftovers properly
• Wash, prep, and store fruit
• Keep the pantry and refrigerator organized

Grocery Shopping

• Build the weekly grocery list from the meal plan and restock needs
• Shop and put everything away with proper organization

Costco Runs

• Bulk staples and household supplies, as needed
• Unpack and store so everything is easy to find

Target Runs

• Household and personal care items, as needed
• Returns and exchanges

Errands

• Pick up and drop off dry cleaning
• Get the mail. Bring in packages and place them in the drop spot
• Handle other errands as needed

Household Supplies

• Maintain the standing inventory list and update it weekly
• Check and restock the kitchen and pantry, the laundry room, and every bathroom
• Check and replace light bulbs throughout the house

Laundry

• Start a load each day, sorted by towels, whites, and darks. Wash, fold, and put away the same day
• Wash all bed linens and duvet covers weekly and remake every bed
• All household laundry complete and put away by end of day Thursday

Common Areas

• Tidy and organize common areas daily. Everything back in its home
• Vacuum upholstery and areas outside the daily sweep, weekly
• Organize drawers in the kitchen and play areas
• Take out trash and recycling. Bring bins in from the curb

Organization Projects

• Larger projects such as garage organization
• Ongoing systems for the playroom, pantry, laundry room, and mudroom
• Seasonal rotation and purge of outdated items
• Assess and improve household systems. Label and document what you build

Pet Care

• Keep food and water bowls full for our two dogs
• 15 minutes of play time daily at noon
• Keep pet areas tidy and clean. Wash bowls weekly

Kids, During the School Year

• Pack lunches per each child's chart
• Prep water bottles and snacks for the next day. Empty and refill bottles from backpacks
• Review homework folders together. Leave a note if you are out
• Help the kids keep their habits: rooms picked up, shoes in the baskets, dishes and trash brought up before using shared spaces
• Check clothing and shoe sizes periodically. Set aside outgrown items for review before donating

Communication

• Daily completion update with notes on what got done and what is needed
• Immediate flag on any issue
• One week notice for any time off request

Pay: $25.00 per hour

Expected hours: 40.0 per week
