The Deborah Smith Walsh Recuperative Care Center (RCC) is seeking a talented and compassionate addition to our team. In this vital multifaceted role, you will provide support for respite patients at the Deborah Walsh Recuperative Care program.
This unique model of care offered within our medical respite program allows for patients to come in off the street or take a reprieve from shelter living to address acute medical issues as well as receive additional behavioral health, addiction and case management supports.
In this role you will:
- Direct nursing care to ensure that all needs of the patients are met, conforming to established policies and procedures, as well as Department of Public Health regulations.
- Support engagement of patients with substance use disorder in a manner consistent with Harm Reduction Principles and provide risk reduction counseling and connection to treatment programs.
- Communicate pertinent abnormal test results to provider.
- Knowledge of opioid overdose management and brief interventions.
- Have interest in working with underserved populations.
- Utilize those skills to interact with patients/clients, team members and staff from other departments.
The successful applicant will offer:
- Graduate of accredited nursing program, current Mass. Licensure, BLS certification.
- Bi-lingual in Spanish /Khmer/Russian with knowledge of medical terminology preferred.
- Previous Community Health or Ambulatory Experience preferred.
- Understanding of substance abuse and mental health issues.
- A desire to work as a collaborative member of a multi-disciplinary team.
