What are the responsibilities and job description for the Mechanical Engineer position at Lynk Engineers?
Design systems you’ll see in the real world
Some roles keep you behind a screen. This one doesn’t. At Lynk Engineers, your work shows up in real spaces -- healthcare facilities, campuses, commercial buildings -- places people rely on every day.
About the Role
We’re looking for a Mechanical Engineer who wants to take ownership of their work, lead projects, and design systems that have a real, visible impact.
What You'll Work On
- HVAC, plumbing, and hydronic systems for complex commercial and institutional projects
- Load calculations, system modeling, and equipment sizing
- Engineering calculations, layouts, and specifications aligned with ASHRAE, IMC, IPC, and NFPA
- Equipment selection: AHUs, pumps, boilers, chillers, ductwork, and piping systems
- Energy-efficient and sustainable design strategies
This isn’t a backseat design role -- you’ll be trusted to lead and collaborate:
- Serve as the mechanical lead on assigned projects
- Work closely with architects and multidisciplinary teams
- Support project schedules and budgets alongside Project Managers
- Review submittals, respond to RFIs, and support construction administration
- Visit project sites and see your designs come to life
Make an Impact Beyond Design:
- Guide and mentor junior engineers and designers
- Perform QA/QC reviews to ensure high-quality deliverables
- Contribute to solutions that are practical, maintainable, and built to last
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering
- 5 years of HVAC and plumbing design experience in an AEC consulting environment
- PE license a plus
Required Skills
- Proficiency in Revit and AutoCAD (Bluebeam and load calc tools like Trace, HAP, or EnergyPlus preferred)
- Strong knowledge of ASHRAE, IMC, IPC, NFPA, and related codes
- Ability to manage multiple projects and communicate clearly
