Evening Custodian

Position Summary

Lyndon USD 421 is seeking a dependable and detail-oriented Night Custodian to support the cleanliness, safety, and overall appearance of our high school facilities. This is a full-time position with benefits, ideal for an individual who takes pride in maintaining a clean, welcoming environment for students, staff, and the community.

Primary Responsibilities

• Perform daily cleaning of classrooms, offices, restrooms, hallways, locker rooms, and common areas

• Sweep, mop, vacuum, and maintain floors, including periodic deep cleaning and floor care

• Clean and disinfect restrooms using appropriate equipment and cleaning solutions

• Empty trash and recycling containers and properly dispose of waste

• Clean windows, doors, and interior glass surfaces as assigned

• Set up and break down spaces for events, activities, and athletic functions as needed

• Refill supplies such as paper towels, soap, and toilet paper

• Follow established safety procedures and proper use of cleaning chemicals and equipment

• Secure building areas at the end of the shift and report maintenance or safety concerns to supervisors

• Assist with seasonal deep-cleaning projects during breaks or summer months

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred

• Previous custodial or cleaning experience preferred, but not required

• Ability to work independently and manage time effectively

• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and perform physical tasks such as bending, standing, and walking for extended periods

• Basic knowledge of cleaning equipment and willingness to learn district procedures

• Dependable, punctual, and able to maintain confidentiality in a school setting

Work Environment
