Duties
- Collaborate with optometrists and ophthalmologists to interpret prescriptions and recommend suitable eyewear solutions.
- Assist patients in selecting frames that suit their style, facial features, and lifestyle needs while explaining lens options and features.
- Measure and verify pupillary distance (PD), frame fit, and other vital signs to ensure proper eyewear alignment.
- Prepare and process eyewear orders using laboratory experience, entering in VSP claims for billing and orders
- Maintain detailed medical records, including medical coding and billing information, ensuring compliance with HIPAA regulations.
Conduct basic eye health assessments, including vital signs and anatomy knowledge checks, to support comprehensive patient care.
- Manage retail sales transactions efficiently while providing excellent customer service that promotes retail management principles and retail math skills.
Skills
- Strong understanding of ophthalmology principles, physiology, anatomy knowledge, and medical terminology relevant to vision care.
- Experience with laboratory procedures related to lens fabrication and aseptic techniques for maintaining a sterile environment
- Knowledge of pediatric eye care (pediatrics) and senior care needs to tailor services appropriate
- Excellent communication skills to educate patients on eyewear options, lens technology, and eye health maintenance.
- Retail sales expertise combined with retail management skills to enhance customer satisfaction while achieving sales goals.
