| POSITION SUMMARY |
| A dedicated support professional who provides individualized assistance to an assigned student while ensuring compliance with Title IX regulations, which prohibit sex-based discrimination and harassment. This position supports student participation in all school programs, acts as a mandated reporter, and helps foster a safe, non-discriminatory environment. |
| ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS |
- Support and Supervision: Provides direct, individual attention to a specific student, assisting with academic, social, and behavioral needs within the educational setting.
- Collaboration: Working with teachers, administrators, behavior team members, and parents to track mastery of content and behavioral goals.
- Reporting & Compliance: Documenting student progress and immediately reporting any potential Title IX violations (harassment or gender-based bias) to the Title IX Coordinator.
- Safety & Inclusion: Providing physical or emotional support to ensure the student can participate in sports, assemblies, and field trips alongside peers.
- Mandated Reporting: As employees in a school receiving federal funds, 1:1 aides must report any knowledge of sexual harassment or sex-based misconduct immediately to the Title IX Coordinator.
- Hostile Environment Prevention: Assists in implementing protective measures or safety plans to ensure the assigned student is not subjected to a hostile environment that limits their ability to participate in school.
- Documentation: Maintains accurate records of incidents, interventions, and student progress as required by school policy and Title IX process guidelines.
- Guides the assigned student during independent study and other work assigned by the teacher.
- Assists with helping the assigned student to develop and maintain routines, as needed.
- Performs other duties, as assigned.

| EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE |
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Minimum of sixty (60) credit hours from an accredited post-secondary institution or career technical facility, or an Associate’s Degree, or successful completion of the ParaPro assessment.
- Required Certifications: Mandt certification
- Prior experience working with children preferred.

- Understanding of Title IX: Basic knowledge of federal laws prohibiting sex discrimination and sexual harassment in education.
- Confidentiality: Strict adherence to privacy laws (FERPA) while ensuring required disclosures to the Title IX Coordinator are made.
- Professionalism: Ability to work collaboratively with teachers, administration, and parents to support the student.
- Skills: Strong collaboration skills are needed to work with teachers, therapists, and families in an inclusive environment.
