Part-Time University Supervisors The Lynch School of Education and Human Development (LSEHD) at Boston College, a Catholic and Jesuit university, endeavors to improve the human condition through education and applied psychology. Description The Office of Field Placement and Partnership Outreach at LSEHD at Boston College invites applications for part-time, in-person University Supervisors for the 2026-27 academic year. University Supervisors support teacher candidates in initial teacher licensure programs in elementary education, secondary education (i.e., English, history, mathematics, and sciences), and moderate disabilities at the undergraduate and graduate levels. The University Supervisor is responsible for observing and documenting teacher candidates’ professional competencies as outlined by the Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education’s (DESE) Professional Standards for Teachers and the Candidate Assessment of Performance (CAP). The University Supervisor actively partners with school-based mentors or Supervising Practitioners to support teacher candidates’ developing practice. Applicants should possess teaching and/or administrative experience in the field of PK-12 education, as well as a strong understanding of Massachusetts curriculum standards, planning, assessment, and meeting diverse student needs. A commitment to teaching, advising, and mentoring teacher candidates is required and previous experience as University Supervisor and/or teacher mentor is preferred. Responsibilities To support teacher candidates in-person on the pathway to licensure, University Supervisors need to: Understand and support the policies, expectations, and state-required evaluations for teacher candidates in pre/full practicum field experiences; Schedule, facilitate, and document the required observations and/or meetings with teacher candidates and school-based mentors during the PreK-12 academic day; Provide verbal and written feedback to all stakeholders in a professional and timely manner; Document, complete, and submit all of the LSEHD and state-required paperwork and assessments; Monitor and communicate teacher candidates’ academic progress throughout the semester; Serve as a liaison between the LSEHD and the PK-12 partnership school; Communicate regularly with the Assistant Dean and/or Associate Director of Field Placements; Participate in virtual orientations and attend virtual monthly meetings for University Supervisors; Maintain a flexible schedule that allows for supervision during the PK-12 academic day and collaboration after-school to allow for the facilitation of state-required documentation for endorsement from the University for licensure in Massachusetts; and Attend to other responsibilities as needed to ensure teacher candidates’ success. Qualifications At least a Master's Degree in Education or related discipline; Teaching and/or administrative experience at the PK-12 level; Minimum five years of teaching &/or administrative experience; Experience with electronic management platforms (e.g., Google Drive, Google Docs) and video conferencing tools (e.g., Zoom, Google Meet) to foster professional collaboration; Preferred Qualifications Prior experience mentoring and evaluating teacher candidates using DESE’s Candidate Assessment of Performance (CAP) preferred; Experience with and knowledge of DESE’s Educator Evaluation Framework; Familiarity with the Mass Literacy initiative in Massachusetts and the commitment to evidence-based literacy practices; and Experience in urban & underserved schools preferred.
