Overview
Our client is hiring a Finance Specialist with medical collections experience to join their healthcare team. This role focuses on insurance follow-up, resolving denied or unpaid claims, and working aging accounts to ensure timely reimbursement. Candidates with knowledge of orthopedic billing are strongly preferred.
Responsibilities
- Follow up with insurance carriers on unpaid, denied, or rejected claims
- Perform insurance and patient collections on aging accounts
- Review EOBs/ERAs and resolve discrepancies
- Submit corrected claims and appeals as needed
- Work AR reports and maintain productivity standards
- Communicate with patients regarding balances and payment plans
- Accurately document all collection activity in the billing system
- Collaborate with billing and front office staff to resolve account issues
Qualifications
- 1–3 years of medical collections or healthcare AR experience
- Knowledge of insurance guidelines, denials, and appeals processes
- Familiarity with Medicare, Medicaid, and commercial payers
- Knowledge of orthopedic billing strongly preferred
- Experience with EMR or medical billing systems
- Strong communication and organizational skills
- Must be able to commute to the office daily; this is an on-site position and not remote
