Overview:
We are seeking a skilled Solar Electrician to join our team. As a Solar Electrician, you will be responsible for installing, maintaining, and repairing solar electrical systems in residential and light-commercial electric and solar settings. This position is primarily solar-based, but there will be many opportunities to work on strictly electrical projects as well. This is a full-time position with competitive pay and benefits.
Position Overview
As a Solar Electrician, you will be responsible for the electrical installation, commissioning, and troubleshooting of photovoltaic (PV) systems, including:
- Grid-tied solar
- Battery storage systems
- Commercial and three-phase systems
- Service upgrades and interconnections
You'll work closely with our design, installation, and project management teams to ensure systems are installed safely, efficiently, and to code.
Key Responsibilities
- Install and wire solar PV systems (AC & DC)
- Perform service upgrades, subpanels, and load-side connections
- Install inverters, rapid shutdown devices, combiner panels, and disconnects
- Ensure compliance with NEC (2017/2020/2023), local AHJ requirements, and utility standards
- Lead or support job sites with apprentices and installers
- Perform system testing, commissioning, and troubleshooting
- Maintain clean, professional job sites
- Communicate clearly with project managers and inspectors
Qualifications
Required:
- Minimum 5 years experience as an electrician (residential and commercial)
- Ability to independently plan and execute solar PV projects, including determining equipment needs, materials, and code-compliant installation methods.
- Strong understanding of NEC and electrical best practices
- Ability to read electrical plans and one-line diagrams
- Valid driver's license and clean driving record
Preferred (not required):
- Wisconsin Journeyman license (or ability to obtain)
- Solar PV experience (training available for the right electrician)
- Experience with:
- Grid-tied inverters and microinverters (Solis, SMA, Hoymiles, Enphase, etc.)
- Battery systems (Franklin, Tesla, Deye, etc.)
- Commercial / three-phase electrical systems
- NABCEP certification (or interest in pursuing)
- Solar sales experience
- Experience designing solar systems to match existing electrical infrastructure (via OpenSolar, Helioscope, Aurora)

- Local and regional travel (home every night)
