What are the responsibilities and job description for the In-House Recruiter & HR Generalist - Data Center Constuction position at LVI Associates?
Talent Acquisition & HR Partner - Data Center Construction
Confidential Client | Virginia (Hybrid)
Our client is a growing general contractor delivering complex, high-value projects across the mission critical and data center sectors. With active work in the data center marker they're expanding their team to keep pace with one of the fastest-growing construction sectors in the country.
They are now hiring a Talent Acquisition & HR Partner to sit at the heart of their Virginia operation, owning the recruitment process and supporting the wider HR generalist scope as the business scales.
This is a hybrid Talent Acquisition and HR Generalist position, based in Virginia. You'll own the recruitment process from advertising through to offer stage - managing inbound applicants, coordinating with third-party recruitment agencies, and running a smooth, professional hiring experience for candidates and hiring managers alike.
This is not a sourcing-heavy role. Active headhunting and candidate outreach will primarily be handled by external recruitment partners. Your focus will be on process ownership, screening, agency management, and stakeholder engagement - alongside supporting the wider HR generalist function.
Talent Acquisition
- Advertise open roles across LinkedIn, job boards, the company website, and internal channels
- Review and screen inbound applications, conducting initial phone interviews and shortlisting for hiring managers
- Coordinate and book interviews across multiple stakeholders and locations
- Manage candidate communication throughout the process, ensuring a strong candidate experience
- Own third-party recruitment agency relationships - briefing roles, negotiating terms, reviewing agency submissions, providing timely feedback, and holding partners accountable to delivery
- Run offer processes, including reference checks, background screening, and onboarding coordination
- Track key hiring metrics (time-to-fill, source of hire, agency performance) and report to leadership
- Support onboarding for new hires, ensuring a smooth transition from offer to Day 1
- Act as a first point of contact for employee queries on policy, benefits, and general HR matters
- Assist with employee relations issues, escalating to senior HR/leadership where appropriate
- Support performance management processes, including annual review cycles
- Maintain HR records and ensure compliance with federal and Virginia state employment law
- Contribute to HR policy development and continuous improvement of people processes
- Partner with senior leadership (VP, Director, and PX-level) to understand hiring plans and workforce needs
- Provide market intelligence on salary benchmarks, candidate availability, and hiring trends (in partnership with recruitment agencies)
- Represent the business externally as a brand ambassador when engaging with candidates and partners
Required
- 4 years of full-cycle recruitment experience, ideally in construction, data center, or mission critical sectors
- Proven experience managing third-party recruitment agency relationships - briefing, feedback, and performance management
- Strong candidate screening and interview coordination skills
- HR generalist experience - onboarding, employee relations, policy, and compliance
- Comfortable engaging with senior stakeholders and hiring managers up to VP/Director level
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple open roles simultaneously
- Based in Virginia (or willing to relocate), with the ability to travel to project sites as needed
- Direct data center construction recruiting experience
- Experience recruiting for a general contractor, developer, or mission critical subcontractor
- Familiarity with ATS platforms
- HR certification (SHRM-CP, PHR, or equivalent) a plus
- Competitive base salary (commensurate with experience)
- Performance-based bonus
- Benefits: Comprehensive health, dental, vision, and 401(k) with company match
- PTO: Generous vacation, sick leave, and holidays
- Hybrid Working: Flexibility to work from home 2 days per week
- Growth Opportunity: Join a business in aggressive growth mode with genuine scope to shape the TA function and grow into a leadership role
This is not one of the huge national GCs - and that's the point. You'll have direct access to senior leadership, real ownership of your function, and the chance to make a tangible impact on the growth of a business at one of the most exciting inflection points in the US construction market.
If you're a talent professional who wants to build something rather than maintain something, this could be the move.
