Estimator, Mechanical

A growing mechanical contractor in the Greater Boston area is looking to add a Mechanical Estimator to their team.

The company specialises in commercial, industrial, and municipal HVAC and plumbing systems, with a strong pipeline of unique public-sector and infrastructure projects. They are known for delivering technically complex work across schools, government facilities, and large-scale retrofit projects.

This is a hybrid opportunity offering exposure to a diverse range of municipal and institutional projects.

You will be responsible for preparing accurate and competitive estimates across mechanical scopes, working closely with leadership, project management, and field teams.

• Prepare detailed estimates for HVAC, plumbing, and piping scopes
• Review drawings, specifications, and bid documentation
• Perform quantity take-offs and cost analysis
• Solicit and evaluate subcontractor and vendor pricing
• Develop and submit competitive proposals
• Attend pre-bid meetings and site walkthroughs
• Identify value engineering opportunities
• Support project handover to operations teams post-award

• 2 years' experience in mechanical estimating (HVAC and/or plumbing)
• Strong understanding of construction drawings and specifications
• Experience with estimating/take-off software (e.g. Bluebeam, PlanSwift, Trimble)
• Knowledge of public bid processes is a plus
• Strong communication and organisational skills
