As an intern in our Transmission & Distribution (T&D) Department, you’ll gain hands-on experience in the power utility industry and play a real role in shaping the future of energy.
Where You'll Work :
- This internship is based at our Rochester, NY office, and will be an on-site role. The program is expected to run from mid-May through early August
- Partnering with utilities on critical projects such as retrofits, rebuilds, and new construction of distribution and transmission lines
- Conducting field surveys (both in-state and out-of-state) to collect data and see firsthand how projects come to life
- Preparing detailed construction packages that engineers and field teams use to safely and efficiently build infrastructure
- Evaluating the strength and reliability of structures to ensure they meet rigorous safety and performance standards
- Providing support during construction, answering questions, and preparing record documents to keep projects running smoothly
- Reviewing codes and standards such as NESC and client-specific requirements to ensure compliance
- Contributing to a collaborative team, with the flexibility to step in and support other roles or duties as needed
- Currently pursuing a degree in Civil, Mechanical, or Electrical Engineering (minimum GPA 2.75)
- Must hold a valid driver’s license and be open to travel (up to 25%)
- Familiarity with Excel and AutoCAD is a plus, but not required—we’ll help you learn!
- No prior design experience required just bring your interest, motivation, and willingness to dive in
- The hourly rate for this position is $25.00 per hour. Actual compensation may vary based on experience and qualifications, as permitted by law
