LUZCO Technologies is seeking an experienced Physical Substation Engineer to join our team on either a part-time or full-time basis. This role will focus on performing Quality Assurance and Quality Control (QA/QC) reviews of physical substation design packages. The ideal candidate brings deep expertise in substation physical layout, constructability, and utility standards, and is committed to upholding engineering excellence.

Flexible remote work is available, though preference will be given to candidates located near the St. Louis, MO office who may be able to attend occasional in-person meetings if needed.

LUZCO Technologies is seeking an experienced Physical Substation Engineer to join our team on either a part-time or full-time basis. This role will focus on performing Quality Assurance and Quality Control (QA/QC) reviews of physical substation design packages. The ideal candidate brings deep expertise in substation physical layout, constructability, and utility standards, and is committed to upholding engineering excellence.
Key Responsibilities
- Review general arrangements, sections, conduit plans, grounding, and equipment layouts for accuracy and constructability
- Ensure compliance with utility standards, NESC/NEC codes, and Luzco’s internal QA/QC expectations
- Provide detailed redlines, technical feedback, and mentorship to design teams
- Assist in enhancing and maintaining QA/QC checklists and internal review procedures
- Collaborate with project leads and engineers to resolve design issues and ensure quality deliverables
- 10 years of experience in substation physical design (greenfield and brownfield)
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to work independently and meet review deadlines with minimal oversight
- Professional Engineer (PE) license strongly preferred
- Solid understanding of utility substation layout, design standards, and industry best practices
- Strong proficiency reviewing CAD-based deliverables (AutoCAD or MicroStation)
- Experience performing QA/QC in a consulting engineering environment
- Familiarity with Ameren or other Midwest utility standards
- Willingness to attend occasional meetings during normal business hours
