Test Scientist
The “Test Scientist” is responsible for laboratory activities for material characterization, product test and validation, product certification, and product registration related to vacuum insulated glass product and development. The Scientist must help build the infrastructure, processes and capabilities to support the LuxWall fail fast product development methodology with fast learning cycles for VIG Technology.
Position Responsibilities:
Responsible for providing quick turnaround time on material analytics and characterization, troubleshooting and failure support to launch VIG 2.0 on-time and meet the VIG 2.0 COGS targets. Specifically:
· Assist in specifying, sourcing, installing, and operating mechanical, optical, thermal, chemical durability, mechanical durability, and environmental test and validation equipment to support the target learning cycle and certification needs.
· Build the necessary laboratory infrastructure and capabilities for material characterization, analytics, and reporting with short turnaround times including a LIMS software package and laser marking system for the facility.
· Help develop analytical test methods, procedures, and metrology infrastructure to support R&D needs including health and safety, equipment preventative maintenance and materials compliance for LuxWall labs.
· Aid with chemical certification, registration and compliance efforts including REACH, ROHS, TSCA, and OSHA required for the sale of LuxWall products.
· Help to obtain sample analysis at external, third party test labs required for material characterization and analytics.
Position Requirements:
Seeking a high energy, entrepreneurial individual that would execute laboratory activities, assist in the research, development, product design, process, equipment development and validation of Ceramic Technology for vacuum insulated glass products.
· 4Y degree in Mechanical or Chemical Engineering, Physics, Chemistry, Ceramics, Glass or equivalent technical degree
· Hands on knowledge of basic laboratory and analytical techniques with strong mechanical aptitude, as well as technical and analytical problem-solving skills
· Experience with glass testing, understanding of Statistical Process Control (SPC), Gage R&R, and Capability studies would be considered a plus
· Professional experience is not required but it would be considered a plus
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $45,000.00 - $55,000.00 per year
