Position Overview
Are you ready to transition from routine design into a high-impact leadership role within the energy sector? We are seeking a Project Engineer III to serve as a technical anchor for our Transmission Line Engineering team. In this role, you will do more than model lines; you will architect the critical infrastructure that powers our communities. You will be tasked with solving complex design challenges, integrating sophisticated grid requirements, and providing the technical expertise necessary to modernize the regional power landscape.
Joining our team means entering an environment that prizes technical mastery and professional autonomy. This isn't just a job—it’s a platform for legacy-building. You will work within a sophisticated engineering framework where your contributions directly influence firm-wide standards and the long-term reliability of the utility grid. With a culture rooted in mentorship and clear paths toward senior management, this position is designed for the ambitious PE looking to command high-stakes energy projects.
Core Responsibilities
Transmission System Architecture: Lead the design and evaluation of complex overhead transmission and distribution power lines, ensuring all systems are engineered for maximum economic efficiency and structural resilience.
Advanced PLS-CADD™ Modeling: Direct the development of high-fidelity models from the ground up, utilizing PLS-CADD™ to perform rigorous structural and electrical clearances analysis for both new builds and major system brownfield revisions.
Technical Stewardship: Review and stamp engineering plans, specifications, and equipment selections for major utility projects, ensuring every deliverable meets the highest industry and safety standards.
Standards Development: Drive the continuous evolution of both firm and client engineering standards, providing the technical guidelines that will govern future regional project planning and design.
Multidisciplinary Coordination: Interface seamlessly with internal stakeholders, field personnel, and client leadership to ensure technical solutions align with broader project management goals and budgetary constraints.
Project Documentation: Produce authoritative technical reports, calculations, and correspondence that serve as the definitive record for complex utility infrastructure deployments.
Mentorship & Quality Control: Provide limited-supervision oversight to junior staff, ensuring the technical accuracy of sketches, documentation, and routine engineering tasks.
Required Qualifications
Education: B.S. degree in Civil or Electrical Engineering from an ABET-accredited institution.
Licensure: Active Professional Engineer (PE) license is required.
Experience: 5 years of progressive experience specifically in Transmission Line Engineering or Utility Power Systems.
Software Proficiency: Expert-level command of PLS-CADD™; proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
Communication: Exceptional ability to interface with employees at all levels and translate complex technical data into actionable project insights.
Preferred Qualifications
Project Management: Experience performing project management functions, including scheduling and resource allocation for utility-scale assignments.
Software Differentiators: Proficiency in PLS-POLE™, PLS-TOWER™, or AutoCAD/MicroStation.
Specialized Knowledge: Deep familiarity with NESC (National Electrical Safety Code) and ASCE structural loading requirements.
