The janitor performs daily floor care and cleaning activities under the direction and supervision of the Housekeeping and Laundry Supervisor to ensure the facility is maintained in a safe, clean, and comfortable environment.

The janitor performs daily floor care and cleaning activities under the direction and supervision of the Housekeeping and Laundry Supervisor to ensure the facility is maintained in a safe, clean, and comfortable environment.
Janitor Duties include, but are not limited to:
- Perform daily floor cleaning functions and assigned tasks in accordance with established floor tech procedures and daily work assignments.
- Clean the front porch and surrounding areas by picking up trash, cigarette butts, emptying trash cans, and disposing of waste in the proper receptacles.
- Dust mop, wet mop, and buff assigned floors.
- Clean walls, rails, doors, behind doors, and baseboards.
- Follow established facility safety and infection control practices when performing tasks and using equipment and supplies.
- Maintain work areas in a clean and safe condition. Report hazardous conditions and equipment issues to the Housekeeping and Laundry Supervisor. Report maintenance concerns to the Maintenance Supervisor according to facility protocols.
- Report all accidents and incidents to your supervisor immediately. These must be reported during the shift in which they occur. In the absence of a supervisor, notify the charge nurse.
- Maintain confidentiality of all resident information.
- Respect resident personal and property rights at all times. Turn in all found items to your supervisor.
- Attend departmental meetings, staff meetings, in-service education, orientation sessions, and on-the-job training as scheduled.
