We are seeking a dedicated Practical Nursing (PN) Instructor to support the delivery of high quality nursing education in an onsite academic setting. This role is ideal for an experienced nurse who is passionate about teaching, mentoring students, and helping future practical nurses succeed in their careers.
The PN Instructor works closely with nursing leadership and fellow faculty to ensure consistent instruction, strong student engagement, and positive academic outcomes across classroom, lab, and clinical environments.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and deliver engaging lectures, labs, simulations, and/or clinical instruction
- Facilitate student learning while modeling professionalism and ethical nursing practice
- Monitor student performance, attendance, and progression; identify and support at-risk students
- Provide one-on-one academic support, tutoring, and developmental feedback
- Maintain accurate gradebooks, assessments, evaluations, and student documentation
- Enforce academic, attendance, dress code, and clinical policies
- Participate in student advising, evaluations, and progress reporting
- Collaborate with nursing leadership on retention strategies and program development
- Attend orientations, meetings, ceremonies, and accreditation-related activities as requested
- Maintain active licensure, certifications, and required continuing education
- Comply with all state regulations, accreditation standards, and institutional policies
Instructional Environment
Teaching is conducted in face to face settings and may include:
- Didactic/classroom instruction
- Skills lab and simulation experiences
- Clinical instruction (onsite or offsite)
Required Qualifications
- Associate Degree in Nursing (ASN) from an accredited nursing program
- Current, active, and unencumbered Florida RN (or APRN) license
- Active Basic Life Support (BLS) certification (American Heart Association)
- Minimum of 4 years of practical nursing experience in relevant subject areas
- Strong communication, organization, and instructional skills
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and common academic technology tools
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN)
- Prior teaching, precepting, or clinical instruction experience
- Familiarity with Florida Board of Nursing and nursing accreditation standards
Work Environment & Physical Requirements
- Onsite academic and clinical teaching environment
- Ability to stand, walk, demonstrate procedures, and present to groups of students
- Occasional lifting up to 15 pounds
