Director of Sales

LUX Catering & Events
Salt Lake, UT Full Time
POSTED ON 4/15/2026
AVAILABLE BEFORE 10/11/2026

LUX has been part of Salt Lake City’s event scene for 30 years. We’re known for bringing people together through great food, genuine hospitality, and events that feel intentional from start to finish. As we continue to grow, we’re looking for a Director of Sales to lead our award-winning team with clarity, energy, and purpose.

This role is about more than hitting numbers. It’s about building a strong, connected sales team and creating structure and accountability. You’ll lead our Event Producers, shape the sales strategy, and stay close to the work by maintaining your own book of business.

If you’re someone who can balance leadership with execution, coach a team while still closing business, and bring both heart and structure to a fast-paced environment, this is the role for you.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead, train, and mentor the sales team to hit goals while keeping collaboration, accountability, and hospitality at the center.
  • Set clear sales targets, expectations, and performance standards, ensuring consistency across the team.
  • Conduct regular sales trainings that spark new ideas, strengthen client relationships, and drive revenue growth.
  • Oversee HubSpot dashboards, reporting, and sales metrics to ensure visibility, accuracy, and accountability.
  • Create and maintain strong relationships with clients through consistent, professional, and genuine communication.
  • Oversee the full client journey from initial inquiry to tastings, proposals, menus, design concepts, invoicing, and event logistics ensuring a seamless experience.
  • Partner closely with culinary, operations, floral/design, and production teams to ensure every event reflects LUX’s standards.
  • Ensure all contracts and retainer payments are secured before events transition to production, maintaining clean and consistent handoffs.
  • Maintain your own book of business by actively prospecting, networking, and closing business that supports both personal and team goals.
  • Drive new business through outreach, partnerships, and collaboration with the marketing team on strategic initiatives.
  • Analyze market trends and competitor activity to identify opportunities for growth and innovation.
  • Represent LUX at industry events, networking opportunities, and client-facing experiences to build brand presence.
  • Balance multiple priorities and projects while staying connected to both team development and client experience.

Qualifications:

  • 5 years of experience in catering or event sales (off-site experience preferred) and 3 years in a leadership or management role.
  • Proven ability to lead and develop teams with a balance of inspiration, structure, and accountability.
  • Strong understanding of food, wine, and spirits; degree in business, hospitality, or event management preferred.
  • Excellent communicator who is organized, detail-oriented, and comfortable managing multiple priorities.
  • Proficiency in Google Suite and event software (Caterease or similar); experience with HubSpot or CRM systems preferred.
  • A strong existing network or book of business is a plus.
  • Professional, approachable, and able to build trust with both clients and internal teams.

Being part of LUX means joining a team that values people as much as the work we do. We invest in growth, celebrate wins, and create space for long-term careers in hospitality. This role is an opportunity to shape the future of our sales team, influence the direction of the company, and be part of something that is constantly evolving.

Every event is different. Every client brings something new. And you’ll always have a team around you to collaborate, problem-solve, and succeed together.
