Job Summary:

The Application & Design Engineer is responsible for technical solution development (application engineering) and sole responsible for the design aspects for industrial air engineering systems including air filtration, ventilation, humidification, and air conditioning systems. This role bridges the gap between sales proposal/application engineering and project execution, ensuring solutions are technically correct, commercially viable and inline with Luwa’s Global Design Standards. The design / drafting coordination is with other Luwa BU overseas, like in China / India and Switzerland as needed.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Define and recognize customer process requirements and develop complete technical solutions for industrial air handling and filtration systems.
  • Create conceptual system designs and layouts including ducting, distribution, dampers, filters, fans, and air-conditioning components (air washers, cooling systems, chillers, etc.)
  • Prepare and support proposal drawings, technical specifications, and scope documentation required for estimating and proposal costing.
  • Interpret RFQ documents, engineering drawings, and customer technical requirements to develop compliant solutions.
  • Participate in customer site visits and job walks as needed to confirm conditions and validate solutions.
  • Visit site / vendors as needed to take measurements / details.
  • Review sales handover documents, validate scope completeness, and obtain missing project information from customers, consultants, architects, or machine supplies.
  • Finalize detailed project concept and execute technical calculations for systems and products.
  • Develop schedules / network plans and manage execution planning with Project Management team.
  • Update required technical details of project to vendors / suppliers / fabricators / Project Management team and Site installation Team.
  • Ensure consistency between engineering design deliverables and project scope (review, markups, and technical alignment).
  • Provide technical support across divisions during project execution and troubleshooting.
  • Manage assembly/installation reports, corrective actions, punch lists, and warranty defect resolution.
  • Drive best practices, lessons learned sharing, and continuous improvement initiatives across US Operations.


Your Experience & Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related engineering discipline.
  • Auto CAD / 3D modelling knowledge is a plus.
  • Equivalent combination of technical education and relevant industrial experience may be considered in lieu of a formal degree.
  • Coursework or experience in HVAC, process air systems, industrial ventilation, humidification, dust collection, or thermal/process engineering.
  • Ability to perform engineering calculations related to airflow, pressure drop, fan selection, heat and mass transfer, and system performance.
  • Familiarity with industrial standards, codes, and engineering documentation practice.
