Responsibilities
- Assist patients in choosing eyewear that fits their prescription, style preferences, and lifestyle needs, ensuring optimal comfort and functionality
- Take precise measurements of pupillary distance, frame fitting, and lens prescriptions using advanced optical equipment
- Verify prescriptions and process orders accurately within electronic medical record (EMR) systems such as Revolution or similar platforms
- Conduct laboratory work including lens mounting, and adjustments to ensure high-quality finished products
- Maintain detailed medical records while adhering to HIPAA regulations to protect patient privacy and confidentiality
- Educate patients on proper eyewear care, contact lens handling, and eye health maintenance, including pediatrics and senior care considerations
- Support retail sales initiatives by promoting eyewear products and accessories while providing excellent customer service
Experience
- Proven experience as an Optician or in optical retail management with a strong understanding of optical experience and retail math principles
- Knowledge of ophthalmology practices, anatomy, physiology, medical terminology, and medical coding related to eye care services
- Familiarity with EMR systems such as Revolution or other healthcare software platforms used for medical records management
- Experience working within clinic environments or ophthalmology settings with exposure to vital signs assessment and medical billing procedures
- Ability to communicate effectively about complex medical information related to vision health and optometry procedures
- Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with healthcare professionals in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail
