What are the responsibilities and job description for the Head Varsity Football Coach position at Lutheran Westland?
Lutheran Westland is a private, Lutheran, Christian high school located in Westland, MI. It serves approximately 175 students on a yearly basis. The school is seeking individuals who are passionate about the game of football, but also understand the concept of a Christian community. Specific Head Coaching Duties and Descriptions
1 Communicate and establish coaching staff roles
2 Prepare summer camp curriculum to be run ($20/hr additional pay)
3 Host team camp sessions - 2x per week in June and July
4 Assist in event management for home games
5 Assist in field management throughout season
6 Implement weekly game plan based upon talent on team
7 Communicate weekly schedules with parents and students
8 Prepare a timeline and/or practice plan for growth and development
9 Assess student abilities and communicate with individual
10 Create and update team depth chart throughout season
General Lutheran Westland Coaching Responsibilites
1 Abide by the school's and LHSA mission statement and guidelines
2 Support administration in philosophy and policy
3 Represent the Warriors at interscholastic athletic events
4 Be up to date with the current trends and philosophy in your sport
5 Prepare and condition athlete appropriately
6 Champion the student athlete throughout the school year
7 Promote good sportsmanship and use of professional language at all times
8 Teach athletes to win by legitimate means only
9 Provide a roster of your team when asked for one
10 Notify coaches, parents, and athletic director of roster changes and injuries
11 Keep record of equipment with coaching staff and AD
12 Inventory equipment at end of season and turn into AD
13 Report all serious injuries (require medical attention) with an injury report
14 Inform AD of technical and unsportsmanlike conduct fouls and penalties
15 Do not an allow an athlete to practice without a physical and contact info on file
16 Post/share lettering expectations at the beginning and end of season with AD
17 Submit equipment requests with pricing and quotes to the AD for discussion
18 Fundraising is not allowed.
19 Maintain a scorebook as a coaching staff with stats to submit at end of season
20 Attend MIAC conference meetings
21 Participate in coaches association for your sport
22 Rate officials on the MHSAA website during season
23 Report scores of contests to AD and secretary post event
24 Rules meetings must be completed for coach
25 Proper paperwork through the LHSA must be on file to coach
26 CPR requirements must be fulfilled to coach
27 LiveScan background check must be on file per Law/MDOE
