Description
DBT Therapist-In-Training
Join our team as a DBT Therapist-In-Training and help individuals build skills for lasting emotional wellness and recovery. Under the direction of a Licensed Therapist or Licensed Psychologist, this role provides assessment, diagnosis, and treatment services for individuals experiencing mental health, substance use, and co-occurring disorders, with a strong emphasis on Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) and evidence-based practices.
Key Responsibilities- Provide individual, family, couples, and group psychotherapy services.
- Facilitate DBT-focused individual and group therapy, including skills training in mindfulness, emotional regulation, distress tolerance, and interpersonal effectiveness.
- Conduct clinical assessments, develop diagnoses, and create collaborative treatment plans.
- Deliver psychoeducation and skill-building services to clients and supports.
- Participate in treatment/recovery team meetings and clinical supervision.
- Maintain timely, accurate documentation and client records.
- Provide trauma-informed, person-centered care aligned with agency standards and evidence-based practices.
- Master's degree in Social Work, Counseling, Psychology, Marriage & Family Therapy, or a related behavioral health field.
- Eligibility for a Wisconsin training license (APSW, LPC-IT, or MFT-IT).
- Practicum experience in behavioral health services required.
- Experience or training in DBT strongly preferred; willingness to complete DBT-specific training required.
- Valid driver's license and reliable transportation.
- Passion for helping individuals develop coping and life skills.
- Commitment to trauma-informed and recovery-oriented care.
- Strong communication, documentation, and relationship-building skills.
- Ability to work flexible hours, including some evenings and weekends based on client needs.
