General Description: The Early Childhood Development Coach - FFN Program is an integral part of the team working to increase the quality of Early Childhood Experience for children birth to kindergarten entry, assistance in day-to-day operations of the Family, Friend and Neighbor Training, and ensuring the implementation of quality Early Childhood Experiences. Under the direct supervision of the FFN Program Supervisor, the FFN Coach plan and coordinate the implementation of FFN Caregiver training session, Family Fun Days and Play Dates. Conducts outreach and community engagement to recruit FFN Caregivers and locations to host FFN Caregiver trainings, Family Fun Days or Play Dates. The FFN Coach will model the LSS-SW shared Values for staff, volunteers, and the community.

Professional Development and Training:

Develop and Facilitate 8 - 10 FFN Caregiver Training cohorts each fiscal year to meet the funders required topics in Standards of Practice.

Host monthly FFN Caregiver cafes to support and plan and implement month Play Dates and Family Fun Days.

Individualized Coaching

Coach up to 100 FFN caregivers annually to create and complete personalized action plans focused on 48 hours of training to increase the quality of Early Childhood Experiences of the children in their care.

Program Coordination and Community Engagement: Support the development of the FFN Community Engagement/ Outreach Plan to recruit and enroll Caregivers and site locations

Participate in Community Networking Meetings to raise community awareness of FFN Caregiver Training Programs.

Maintain materials used during FFN Caregiver Learning Sessions, Family Fun Days or Play Dates.

Data Entry: Collect and maintain secure case files in accordance with documentation standards and requirements. Document outcomes and required caregiver level data into Children and Families data tracking system to meet funder and LSS- SW administration outcome reporting. Duties may include but are not limited to entering attendance, caregiver enrollment and intake, child screenings, action plans and case notes in the Children and Families data tracking system.

Follow internal protocol immediately with regard to safety, health, and environment of the client and employee workspace and workplace equipment.

Example of a Daily Schedule: FFN Coach will work eight hours per day Tuesday - Saturday until 8:00 pm one - two nights per week. Daily activities may include meeting FFN staff at storage before or after FFN Caregiver Learning Sessions, Family Fun Days or Play Dates to gather or store materials. Setting up, facilitate or co-facilitation, and cleaning up for daily FFN Caregiver Learning Sessions, entering data, and/or preparing materials for future FFN Caregiver Learning Sessions, Family Fun Days or Play Dates. Communicate with enrolled FFN Caregivers to assess their progress on their Professional Development Action Plan. Conduct Outreach Activities to recruit FFN Caregivers, host locations for training. Driving to locations throughout the First Things First Northwest Maricopa Region including rural areas.


Qualifications Requirements

Education and/or Experience, Ability

  • Bachelor's degree in education, and five years early childhood education classroom experience relevant work experience is required by funder
  • Ability to participate as a member of a team, including collaboration, cross-training, and mutual assistance.
  • Experience and comfort working with young children birth to 12
  • Knowledge of human service systems and resources.
  • Current CPR, First Aid certification and Current Level 1 Fingerprint Card
  • Clear criminal background and motor vehicle screening; must have a clear driving record for at least 39 months.
  • Clear the Department of Economic Security, Central Registry Background Check.
  • Very good understanding of computer hardware and software.
  • Good time management ability and ability to work independently.
  • Skills in English composition, grammar, spelling and punctuation.
  • Reliable transportation
  • Obtain training as required by funder within 180 days of hire.

Ongoing Professional Development

  • Certification in Standards of Quality for Family Support and Strengthening
  • Participate in 25 hours of ongoing Professional Development Training per fiscal year. Training must be relevant to position.
  • Obtain and maintain Service Coordination Curriculum Certification/ Accreditation relevant to position.

Language Skills

Bilingual English/Spanish is strongly preferred. Ability to communicate clearly. Ability to listen and perceive need, working with people from diverse backgrounds non-judgmentally. Ability to effectively present and represent LSS-SW and the program's needs to religious and community groups as well as others in the social services community.


Mathematical Skills

Good ability to calculate figures.


Reasoning Ability

Ability to define problems, collect data, evaluate information, draw conclusions, and take appropriate action based on this information. Ability and confidence to make decisions when appropriate and when to solicit guidance from the Senior Coordinator: Family Coach.

  • The noise level in the work environment varies with the activity level of the facility.
  • The employee must be willing to drive to client's home and able to orientate and navigate well within Program's boundary.
  • Maintain valid AZ Driver License, vehicle insurance and reliable transportation.
  • Ability to work within mission of LSS-SW.
