Lutheran Social Services provides housing and supportive services to seniors, adults, families and transition-aged youths who are homeless. Our goal is to assist individuals in stabilizing their housing, moving from homelessness to stable, permanent housing. Each day is different and duties may include assisting individuals in setting goals, accompanying to an appointment, assisting with acquiring benefits, teaching budgeting and other skills, liaison with apartment managers, and helping build a supportive network. The LSS Vita Tax Program provides free tax filling services to current and former foster youth in Northern California. We will expand our services to include all of our youth participants aged 18 to 24 across five counties, from Shasta to San Joaquin.

Pay: $24 - $26/hour

Hours: Monday – Friday, 9:00 – 5:00 (20 hours per week)

We’re looking for an individual who is passionate about making a difference in the lives of others. Qualified applicants bring a bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience, prior tax experience is preferred. This position will oversee our Vita Tax Program. Duties will include program outreach, volunteer recruitment & oversight, community events, partnership meetings, and IRS training and following IRS guidelines. Successful employees take a creative approach to problem-solving, coordinate services with other LSS programs and agencies, and are excited to both learn and teach new skills.

Responsibilities
  • Coordinate and oversee program operations to ensure alignment with organizational goals.
  • Collaborate with staff and stakeholders to develop and implement program strategies.
  • Monitor program performance and prepare reports for management.
  • Facilitate communication between teams and external partners.
  • Assist in budgeting and resource allocation for programs.
  • Organize training sessions and workshops for staff development.
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant regulations and standards.
  • Support outreach efforts to engage the community effectively.
  • Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in social work, public administration, or a related field.
  • Proven experience in program coordination or management within a non-profit setting.
  • Strong analytical skills with experience in financial analysis and budgeting.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with diverse groups.
  • Knowledge of community resources and social services is a plus.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite or similar software.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelors Degree plus experience in employment, rehabilitation counseling, or a related field; and five years experience working with youth.
  • Experience in working with youth, families, and/or low-income persons with disabilities required, as well as demonstrated ability to effectively communicate and work with staff and clients from multi-cultural, diverse backgrounds and life experiences.
  • Knowledge of the local work force and employment issues and the ability to work collaboratively with diverse agencies.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team setting.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Computer literate and has word processing skills. Experience with Microsoft Word, Word Perfect, Excel, and Google Suite is preferred.
  • Must pass a background check including finger printing, DMV and Child Abuse Central Index records check.
  • Must have a valid California driver’s license and required insurance.

Specific vision abilities required by this job include ability to read, close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. This position requires the ability to see, review and share the organizations secure electronic and physical files with other program staff; the incumbent will also have access to the organization’s and other highly confidential information. Because of this, the employee must have the ability to perform the job at the location of the assigned program or field office(s).

The employee frequently will be required to travel to locations within the regional areas of LSS. The employee may on occasion transport clients and help the client (physically and emotionally) navigate government, education, health care and other social service systems. This may require standing in lines, climbing stairs, traveling and transporting clients to multiple destinations on any given day.
