What are the responsibilities and job description for the Volunteer & Mentor Youth! position at Lutheran Social Services of Northeast Florida, Inc.?
Lutheran Social Services of Northeast Florida (LSS) operates five very different community outreach programs that share an important commonality - the ability to help those facing hardships stabilize their lives and earn a fresh start.
The first initiative operated by our nonprofit was the Nourishment Network - a food pantry that has fed hundreds of thousands of food-insecure families for more than 40 years.
Another cornerstone of our organization is Refugee Services; LSS has been resettling refugees in the Jacksonville area since 1980. Refugees are individuals who have been forced to flee their home country due to violence, unrest, and persecution. After a lengthy screening process, they are granted legal refugee status by the United Nations and the U.S. State Department. LSS helps refugees find housing, employment, and connects them with other vital services they need to rebuild their lives in the U.S.
We could not do our work without the additional support of a pool of talented and compassionate volunteers!

We are looking for volunteers to mentor our youth!
Get matched to a mentee (a youth between the ages of 15-24). Our Youth Mentors meet with mentees to work toward reaching personal, vocational, or academic goal(s). Share your life experience and insight. This opportunity asks for a 1-hour weekly or 2-hour bimonthly commitment over a period of 6 months. We will pay for a background check!
