The Shelter Manager is responsible for the overall leadership, coordination, and daily management of the shelter. This position ensures that survivors and their children are provided with a safe, supportive, and empowering environment while receiving comprehensive services that promote healing and independence. The Shelter Manager oversees shelter operations, supervises staff and volunteers, manages compliance with state and federal regulations, and collaborates with community partners to strengthen the continuum of care. This role requires strong leadership, crisis management skills, and a commitment to trauma-informed practices.

What will I do as the Shelter Manager with Lutheran Social Services?
- Ensure all shelter advocates are following best practices.
- Ensure staff is trained on and following all policy and procedures.
- Ensure advocates are provided consistent supervision and follow up.
- Develop and maintain staff schedules to ensure 24/7 coverage and adequate support for residents.
- Ensure survivors receive services are treated with dignity and respect.
- Ensure the implementation of client-centered, and trauma informed services are provided to residents.
- Ensure meetings, trainings, and shift responsibilities are consistently attended or completed.
- Ensure safety measures are always in place for residents and staff.
- Monitor and ensure cleanliness of the building.
- Completion of supervision and reporting as assigned.
- Ensure all intakes, resident orientations, and resident exits are conducted thoroughly and accurately.
- Maintain inventory of supplies
- Provide supervision bi-weekly with each employee.
- Submit monthly reports to Director of Shetler Services and the Director of Operations.
- Implement monthly team meetings consisting of relevant trainings.
- Manage bed capacity and coordination of incoming and exiting clients.
- Evaluate service outcomes for the resident/client population to ensure the effective and efficient delivery of services.
- Review all unusual incident reports/Grievances and provide final disposition/Director sign off.
- Provide oversight to the Apricot system.
- Work with Human Resources to ensure onboarding and professional development paths for staff are followed.
- Provide guidance on crisis intervention, de-escalation techniques, and survivor-centered approaches
- Facilitate resident meetings, workshops, and life-skills programming to promote empowerment and independence.
- A bachelor's degree in business, social service administration, or related field with a minimum of 3 years management experience or
- A bachelor's degree in any other field with a minimum of 5 years management experience or
- S. diploma or GED with a minimum of 10 years residential management experience.
- Staff development, multi-shift scheduling, team building, cultural humility, trauma-informed care, social services, and trauma informed supervision preferred
- Proficiency in Microsoft office suite
- Valid Ohio driver's license, access to reliable insured transportation and ability to meet LSS insurance standards required.
