Full Title: Bilingual Intimate Partner Violence Specialist
Location: Jefferson Health Northeast (Frankford and Torresdale campuses)
Scope Of Position
Under the supervision of the BDVP Medical Advocacy Supervisor, the IPV Specialist is primarily responsible for providing individual and group counseling services and advocacy for intimate partner violence (IPV) survivors and their families as part of a hospital-based IPV prevention and response program at Jefferson Frankford and Torresdale hospitals. The IPV Specialist also provides training, technical support, and program development within Jefferson Frankford and Torresdale hospitals as part of the Medical Advocacy program. The IPV Specialist will primarily be based at Jefferson Frankford Hospital Monday through Thursday, with at least one visit per month to Jefferson Torresdale Hospital. Upon completion of a 90-day probationary period, work from home is offered for Fridays. Occasionally staff may be asked to work evening or weekend hours in exchange for flex time.

Functions And Duties
- Provides on-site and telephonic counseling, advocacy and resource connection to adults and teens experiencing intimate partner violence, as referred through the healthcare setting
- Maintains a caseload of 1-3 ongoing individual counseling clients, providing 10 sessions of empowerment counseling, case management, advocacy, accompaniment and referral services to IPV victim/survivors and their families.
- Conducts outreach activities such as tabling, “rounding”, and awareness campaigns on a regular basis with support from supervisor and other team members as needed
- Facilitates health system IPV task force, a group made of multidisciplinary stakeholders from the hospital and clinics
- Participates in the development and presentation of workshops/trainings on IPV issues to the hospital and larger community.
- Consults regularly with hospital teams to review cases and coordinate calls and follow-up as appropriate.
- Assists with evaluation of the BDVP programs and services including facilitating client and training surveys, and participates in the development of new program concepts.
- Participates in the development of printed materials, public service announcements, and public relations on IPV.
- Providing coverage on hotline and walk-in hours when at main site office.
- Other related duties as assigned by supervisor.
- A minimum of 2 years' experience in providing counseling services and/or working with patients in a healthcare setting is required.
- The individual is expected to demonstrate understanding of the dynamics of domestic violence, knowledge of community resources, and sensitivity to the needs of domestic violence victims and their families.
- Experience providing support to individuals impacted by substance use is preferred.
- Applicant should have previous training experience.
- In addition, the individual is expected to present good listening skills; demonstrate effective problem-solving skills; be comfortable with public speaking; and be able to work with a diverse group of individuals.
- Completion of a state mandated 40-hour domestic violence training and 5 hours of double staffing is required; can be completed upon hiring.
