Cook's Helper FULL-TIME 5:00 AM - 1:00 PM including every other weekend and holidayJob SummaryWe are seeking a dedicated and passionate Cook's Helper to join our culinary team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for preparing high-quality meals in accordance with established recipes and standards. This role requires a strong understanding of food safety and sanitation practices, as well as the ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced kitchen environment. The Cook will play a vital role in ensuring that all meals are prepared to meet the dietary needs of our clients while maintaining exceptional quality.DutiesAssists the AM/PM cook in the preparation of foods including special diet items.Assumes the responsibility of the AM/PM cook when necessaryFollow documented menu requirementsAssures Production sheets are followedAssures special menus/ breakdowns are followedUtilize spreadsheets and diet census boardCommunicate with supervisor to assure preparation of special menu items at mealsAssists with preparation of Café food.Follow resident meal ticket or event request to assure proper meal deliveryFoods are served to proper temperatures/ taste / and appearance standards given by supervisor.Responsible for cleaning the food preparation area and the equipment used, i.e. ovens, steam tables, slicers, mixers, etc.Properly stores, labels, and utilizes leftovers.Proper equipment usageFollows procedures when operating equipmentDocuments maintenance of equipmentLabels and dates food correctly.Assures requirements and procedures for food storage, stock rotation, and thawing procedures are adhered to.Personal protective equipment and procedures and equipment is consistently and appropriately used.SkillsOne year of cooking or preparation experience in an long term care, assisted living or hospital setting is preferredProficient in food handling techniques and food preparation methods.Knowledgeable about food safety standards and regulations within the food industry.Experience working in a kitchen or food service environment is preferred.Ability to effectively plan meals that meet dietary requirements.Strong organizational skills with attention to detail in meal preparation.Excellent communication skills for collaborating with team members and dietary aides.Must be able to lift, push, and move a minimum of 50 pounds unassistedAbility to work efficiently under pressure while maintaining high-quality standards.Join our team as a Cook, where you can utilize your culinary skills while contributing to the well-being of our clients through nutritious meal preparation!Lutheran Home7500 W North AvenueWauwatosa, WI 53213You may also complete an application at www.thelutheranhome.org.We are a health care facility located in the heart of Wauwatosa with an impeccable reputation for resident care, customer service and a commitment to our staff!
