Job Summary
Lutheran Kosciusko Hospital is seeking a dedicated Registered Nurse (RN) to join our Intensive Care Unit (ICU) team on night shifts. In this high-acuity environment, you will deliver high-quality, patient-centered critical care through assessment, diagnosis, planning, implementation, and evaluation. You will collaborate closely with physicians, advanced practice providers, and interdisciplinary care teams to manage complex medical cases, operate life-support systems, and advocate for patients and their families in a compassionate, supportive atmosphere.
Key Responsibilities
- Critical Care Delivery: Coordinate and provide direct, high-quality patient care in alignment with clinical protocols, provider orders, and established nursing standards.
- ICU & Life-Support Management: Administer complex intravenous medications and monitor advanced medical equipment, including ventilators, cardiac monitors, central lines, and tracheostomies.
- Patient Assessment & Response: Conduct continuous patient assessments, accurately document medical conditions, swiftly identify changes in status, and lead/participate in life-saving interventions (CPR/code teams).
- Care Planning & Advocacy: Develop, implement, and evaluate individualized patient care plans while serving as a strong advocate for patient rights and safety.
- Education & Communication: Provide comprehensive education to patients and families regarding conditions, critical treatments, and post-discharge recovery steps.
- Quality & Safety: Maintain strict infection control protocols, adhere to National Patient Safety Goals, and participate in performance improvement initiatives and chart audits.
Qualifications & Skills
- Experience: 0–2 years of clinical nursing experience in an acute care setting.
- Clinical Knowledge: Strong background in critical care protocols, pharmacology, invasive monitoring, and emergency response interventions.
- Competencies: Excellent interdisciplinary collaboration, keen attention to detail, and sound clinical decision-making skills under high-acuity conditions.
Certifications & Licenses
- Required: Active Indiana Registered Nurse (RN) license or valid Compact/Multi-State RN license.
- Required: Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
- Preferred: Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS), Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS), or Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP).
