Job Summary:
The Transportation Specialist will provide transportation for resident(s) to medical appointments, life enrichment events, and other destinations as directed by management, while maintaining exceptional customer service standards. This role also ensures that vehicles and equipment are properly maintained to support safe operation and meet all standards and regulatory requirements.
Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Transportation (60%)
- Assist with scheduling appointments.
- Provide accurate/timely transportation to scheduled appointments/events.
- Assist residents with mobile equipment.
- Provide exceptional customer service through compassionate, professional communication with staff, residents, and families.
- Follow all HIPAA privacy regulations, maintaining confidentiality for residents and staff.
2. Documentation and Reporting (10%)
- Maintain transportation documentation and reports for reference and regulatory compliance.
- Maintain maintenance records to ensure safe operation of vehicles.
3. Maintenance of Equipment and Vehicle(s) (10%)
- Maintain fuel in vehicles to allow for daily transportation.
- Follow the determined vehicle maintenance schedule to ensure safe operations.
- Inspect equipment used in transport to ensure safe operation for residents and report any issues.
4. Compliance and Training (10%)
- Attend all mandatory in-services, meetings, and training sessions to stay up to date with policies, safety procedures and regulations.
- Complete annual training courses, by deadline, to remain current with compliance and regulatory guidelines.
- Adhere to all facility policies, procedures, and regulatory standards.
5. Collaboration and Communication (5%)
- Work closely with departments to address transportation needs and ensure smooth operations.
6. Other Duties as Assigned (5%)
Qualifications:
- Education: High school diploma or equivalent.
- Credentials: Must have a valid driver’s license and three (3) year driver’s record with no violations
- Experience: Minimum of (3) years of experience in the field of transportation or caregiving.
- Skills: Ability to make independent decisions, follow instructions and accept constructive criticism. Must be able to work harmoniously with other personnel and communicate effectively with staff, residents, family members, vendors and community personnel.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to sit, stand, and walk for extended periods.
- Ability to perform repetitive tasks and physical activities, such as bending and reaching.
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
