DEPARTMENT OVERVIEW

Since 2004, the KPC Family Resource Center has been a trusted source of support for families in Colorado Springs. The program offers free respite care for infants and young children, providing both temporary crisis care and planned childcare at no cost to parents or guardians. In addition to childcare services, KPC provides case management and family support, helping caregivers navigate challenges and access vital resources.

KPC Family Resource Center is state licensed as a Small Child Care Center, ensuring a safe, nurturing, and regulated environment for children in its care. The center has supported hundreds of families, offering essential relief during times of stress and promoting long-term family stability.

JOB SUMMARY & RESPONSIBILITIES

The Childcare Center Director provides leadership and oversight for the KPC Family Resource Center, applying a strengths-based coaching approach to support and manage a team of direct service staff and volunteers. In partnership with the Program Director, this role is responsible for the programmatic, administrative, and operational management of the center, ensuring high-quality service delivery to children and families. The Childcare Center Director plays a key role in maintaining program efficiency, regulatory compliance, and effective communication with internal and external stakeholders.

  • Maintains Program Documentation: Maintains consistency of program documentation and ensures that documentation and reporting is completed in a thorough, high quality, and timely manner.

EXAMPLE ACTIVITIES

  • Manages a team of direct services staff and volunteers, utilizing positive team building leadership, clear communication, delegation, training, and performance evaluation to encourage individual development, and promote cooperation and team problem solving approaches.
  • Assure day-to-day compliance with current state rules governing daycare policies and procedures.
  • Provide oversight for children placed in KPC Family Resource Center, including completion of intake paperwork.
  • Maintain written documentation and prepare necessary reports on a timely basis.
  • Contributes to grant proposals, monitoring, and reporting as appropriate for the program.
  • In collaboration with the Program Director, ensures the center is fiscally sound and programs are sustainable.
  • Respond to the crisis phone line and provide emergency on-call backup services.
  • Responsible for staff recruitment and training staff and volunteers according to Volume 7 daycare licensing rules.
  • Provides crisis support when needed.
  • May participate in on call rotation.

TRANSPORTATION

Must maintain a valid driver's license and carry personal auto liability insurance at the level of

$100,000/300,000/100,000.

REQUIRED CERTIFICATIONS

  • Mustqualifyascenter director as specified in Colorado Volume 7 day care licensing rules.
  • Bachelor's degree with coursework in Early Childhood Education and (3) years relevant experience; or
  • Equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Experience with crisis intervention and trauma informed practices preferred.
  • Supervisory experience preferred.

Salary : $53,200 - $59,000
