HOW YOU WILL MAKE AN IMPACT:

The Shift Supervisor provides staff leadership and oversight of the assigned shift, ensuring quality of the program operations. This position provides direct services to clients, as well as supervision of staff in partnership with the Program Coordinators and/or Manager. Whether ensuring the policies and procedures are followed or providing administrative support, this position will receive direct support from the management team.

Located in Auburn, WA, Don’s Place is a hybrid housing program combining aspects of both Compass’ enhanced shelter and permanent supportive housing programs. It provides non-time limited emergency housing with 24/7 supportive services for adults and couples. Referrals for program participants are from Coordinated Entry for All (CEA) and the local Auburn community. In addition to supportive services, participants have access to daily meals, 24/7 staffing support, laundry, and other resources including referrals to medical and mental health services and other benefits to assist in addressing any barriers to long-term, stable housing.

The schedule for this position is: Friday-Tuesday 4pm-12am with bi-weekly staff meetings on Tuesday/Thursday.

  • Conduct and oversee direct client services for assigned shifts. Provide policy and procedure guidance to staff.
  • Ensure the maintenance of all necessary logs, records, reports, and statistics with Program Coordinator and/or Manager.
  • Ensure timely and accurate data entry into all program-specific databases. Compile shift data to be used in monthly statistical reports for internal and external purposes.
  • Assist the Program Coordinator and/or Manager in using the data from monthly and quarterly reports to analyze service delivery to identify areas for improvement.
  • Manage supplies, update inventory and place and/or direct ordering, as needed.
  • Participate in program and agency meetings and relevant training as required, including inter-agency groups.
  • Ensure smooth transition of staff at changeover/handoff and up-to-date information exchanges.
  • Maintain a safe, supportive, and inclusive environment within the program for both staff and guests. Treat staff and clients in a culturally responsive and sensitive manner.
  • Assist and support guests with learning and understanding program routines including building safety, ensuring site walks, program requirements, and program policies and procedures.
  • Make sure staff ensure building safety and perform site walks following protocols.

Staffing

  • Train, schedule, and supervise assigned regular and relief staff to ensure effective delivery of trauma-informed services.
  • Assist with staff schedule development and duty assignments on all four floors.
  • Serve as the first point of contact for staff call outs and no shows, which may require finding relief coverage or covering the assigned shift, as needed.
  • Provide leadership support to all program staff regarding any guest issues and de-escalation needs.
  • Assist with supervisory duties in accordance with the agency policies and applicable laws. Supervise duties of Program Assistants and Relief Staff.

  • Handle conflict situations proactively and effectively, modeling good conflict resolution skills.
  • Create a climate where staff are challenged, supported, and motivated to do their best to help the individual, team, program, and agency meet its goals.
  • Build strong teams that apply their diverse skills and perspective to achieve common goals in a mutually supportive fashion.

HOW YOU WILL BE A GREAT FIT:

  • Demonstrated knowledge of local resources and services for individuals who are experiencing poverty and housing insecurity, as well as the ability to develop a network of providers to serve the needs of agency clients.

  • Demonstrated ability to learn, understand, and utilize computer applications related to the agency; experience with HMIS a plus.
  • Model sound interpersonal boundaries and emotional intelligence.
  • Promote a team environment that values, encourages, and supports differences.
  • Relate openly and comfortably with diverse groups of people, while valuing their differences.
  • Strong problem solving, time and project management skills are required to be successful in this role.
  • Work independently and as part of a team, particularly to exercise sound decision making in the absence of supervision, with strong collaboration skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with ability to communicate effectively about technical problems and solutions.
  • Aptitude for learning new technology skills with Microsoft products and other internet-based software.
  • Ability to learn new functions on office equipment and devices (printer, scanner, projector, mailing machine, copier).
  • Meets LCSNW criminal background clearance requirements and other job-relevant clearances as required by the State or program.
