The Lutheran Church of the Good Shepherd is seeking a warm, dependable, and highly organized Part-Time Church Office Administrator to join our staff.
The Church Office Administrator helps keep the daily life of our church office running smoothly and is often the first point of contact for members, guests, ministry partners, vendors, and people from our surrounding community. We are looking for someone who combines strong administrative skills with professionalism, attention to detail, hospitality, and a genuine desire to serve others.
Working under the Director of Operations, this position provides administrative support to our pastoral and ministry staff, Board of Elders, ministry leaders, volunteers, and congregation.
What You’ll Do
Primary responsibilities include:
- Open and maintain the church office during established weekday office hours.
- Welcome members, guests, vendors, and visitors and answer incoming telephone calls.
- Monitor and respond to general church emails and correspondence.
- Prepare, proofread, and print the weekly Sunday worship bulletin.
- Prepare worship materials for Christmas, Lent, Holy Week, Easter, funerals, weddings, baptisms, and other special services.
- Prepare and distribute the church’s weekly Friday email through Mailchimp.
- Prepare announcements, ministry communications, handouts, and other church publications.
- Provide administrative support to the Director of Operations, Lead Pastor, church staff, and ministry leaders.
- Prepare correspondence, reports, forms, and ministry documents.
- Coordinate church calendars, room reservations, and meeting schedules.
- Maintain church records, filing systems, visitor information, and electronic files.
- Assist ministry leaders with materials for Bible studies, classes, meetings, and special events.
- Maintain appropriate confidentiality regarding personnel, pastoral care, member, and other sensitive information.
- Perform other reasonable administrative responsibilities related to the position.

Qualifications include:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Two or more years of administrative or office experience preferred.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Excellent organization and attention to detail.
- Ability to manage multiple responsibilities and meet weekly deadlines.
- Strong interpersonal and customer-service skills.
- Ability to exercise discretion and maintain confidentiality.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Mailchimp.
- Comfort learning church-management software and other office systems.
- Ability to operate standard office equipment.
Previous experience in a church, Christian ministry, nonprofit, or similar office environment is preferred but not required.

Schedule & Compensation
This is a part-time, non-exempt position working 25 hours per week, Monday through Friday at our church campus in Torrance.
Occasional schedule flexibility may be needed for special church events or ministry activities.
Physical Requirements
The position requires the ability to sit for extended periods while working at a computer, operate standard office equipment, move throughout the church campus as needed, and lift up to 15 pounds.
