Occupational Therapist - Full Time
The Lutheran Care Center at Poughkeepsie is currently seeking a full time Occupational Therapist to join our team. JOB SUMMARY:
JOB SUMMARY:
Manage the professional components of Occupational Therapy evaluations and treatments.
- Assess and evaluate residents and establish goals and plans.
- Re-evaluate goals and treatment plans in accordance with New York State code.
- Document required medical record progress notes per NYS code.
- Insure a physician orders treatments.
- Makes recommendation to Director and/or Physician on resident response to treatment.
- Provide input as a member of the Comprehensive Care Planning Team.
- Make assignments and supervise the Occupational Therapy Assistant and Occupational Therapy Aide.
- Familiar with facility policy and procedure.
- Attend mandatory in-services and provide Occupational Therapy in-services as needed.
- Assume department tasks as required including transportation, general housekeeping, sanitation, and cleaning of equipment as assigned.
- Inputs data into computer.
- Make rounds of all building on a regular basis to determine safety of the residents’ environment.
- Regularly monitor wheelchairs, geriatric chairs and adaptive devices.
- Perform all other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited school in Occupational Therapy.
- New York State license and current registration required.
- Excellent clinical skills; comprehensive understanding of the issues surrounding long term care.
- Previous experience in Occupational Therapy preferred.
