About Lush Farms

Lush Farms, LLC is a commercial worm farm focused on the production and manufacturing of high-quality worm castings (vermicompost) for horticultural, agricultural, and commercial applications.

Our mission is to improve soil and plant health through the wider use of naturally occurring microbiology and the reduction or elimination of unnecessary chemical inputs. We produce worm castings rich in nutrients and beneficial microbiology and supply soil blenders, re-packagers, growers, and large commercial end-users nationwide.

We are expanding our operations into a new manufacturing and packaging facility in Theresa, Wisconsin, and are looking for dependable, hardworking people to join our production team.

This is an opportunity to join a growing Wisconsin company and receive hands-on training across multiple areas of our operation, including production equipment, material handling, packaging, and commercial-scale vermicomposting.

Important Training & Location Information

This position requires approximately 4-6 weeks of initial training at our facility in New Berlin, WI.

During this period, employees will work alongside our experienced team to learn our production processes, equipment, safety procedures, quality standards, and day-to-day operations.

Once training is complete, employees will transition to our new facility in Theresa, WI, which will be the permanent work location.

Position Summary

As a Production Worker, you will be part of the team responsible for producing, processing, packaging, and preparing our worm castings for commercial customers.

This is a hands-on position that combines elements of manufacturing, agriculture, material handling, equipment operation, and packaging. Daily responsibilities may include operating production equipment, moving materials, monitoring production processes, packaging finished products, maintaining equipment and work areas, and assisting with shipping and receiving.

Previous experience in worm farming or vermicomposting is not required. We will train the right candidates.

What You'll Do

Production & Equipment

· Operate machinery and equipment used in the production and processing of worm castings, including sifters, conveyors, mixers, packaging equipment, and other production machinery.

· Follow established procedures for handling and processing organic materials.

· Blend organic materials, including feed and bedding materials, according to established production procedures.

· Monitor production equipment and processes for proper and consistent operation.

· Based on position, training, and experience, operate material-handling equipment such as pallet jacks, forklifts, and skid steers.

· Load, unload, move, and organize raw materials and finished products.

Quality Control

· Assist with monitoring moisture, temperature, and other production conditions according to established procedures.

· Record production and quality-control observations as required.

· Inspect finished worm castings for characteristics such as texture, color, and moisture.

· Report readings, product conditions, or equipment performance that fall outside established standards.

Packaging, Shipping & Inventory

· Package worm castings into bags, containers, or other designated packaging.

· Operate packaging equipment as needed.

· Ensure finished products are properly packaged, labeled, and identified.

· Prepare finished products for shipment.

· Assist with loading and unloading shipments.

· Help maintain organized inventories of raw materials, packaging materials, and finished products.

Facility & Equipment Maintenance

· Perform routine cleaning of production equipment and work areas.

· Assist with basic preventative maintenance and report equipment issues when necessary.

· Help clean and maintain worm beds, composting areas, bins, conveyors, and other production equipment.

· Keep production and storage areas clean, organized, and safe.

· Assist with general facility upkeep as needed.

Safety

· Follow company safety policies, procedures, and equipment training.

· Use appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE).

· Operate machinery and equipment safely and only as trained.

· Handle organic materials and composting processes safely and responsibly.

· Promptly report unsafe conditions, equipment problems, or injuries.

What We're Looking For

You do not need previous experience with worms or vermicomposting. We will provide on-the-job training and teach you our processes.

Previous experience in manufacturing, agriculture, farming, warehouse operations, landscaping, construction, material handling, equipment operation, or other hands-on work is helpful but not required.

· Forklift, skid steer, or other equipment experience is a plus but is not required.

Physical & Work Environment

This is an active, hands-on production position. Employees must be able to:

· Perform work involving standing for long periods, walking, bending, lifting, and repetitive physical activity throughout the workday.

· Safely lift and move materials as required for the position.

· Work outdoors for short periods in various weather conditions for select activities, including shipping and material handling.

· Work in a production environment where dust, odors, temperature variations, organic materials, compost, and other conditions associated with agricultural production may occur.
