Duties
- Assist dentists chairside during a variety of procedures including restorations, prosthodontics, endodontics, and IV sedation, ensuring adherence to aseptic techniques and infection control protocols.
- Prepare treatment rooms by sterilizing instruments, setting up necessary dental materials, and ensuring all equipment is functioning optimally.
- Take and develop dental radiographs (X-ray), including 3D scans, while maintaining strict compliance with HIPAA regulations to protect patient confidentiality.
- Manage patient records using EMR (Electronic Medical Records) systems such as Dentrix, ensuring accurate documentation of medical history, treatment plans, and medical coding.
- Monitor vital signs and assist with medical imaging or other procedures requiring anatomy knowledge and medical terminology proficiency.
- Support front desk operations by coordinating appointments with the dental receptionist and managing patient flow efficiently.
- Educate patients on oral health practices, post-treatment care instructions, and answer their questions with professionalism and clarity.
Qualifications
- Valid certification as a Registered Dental Assistant (RDA).
- Proven experience in dental assisting within a general dentistry setting.
- Proficiency in dental software systems such as Dentrix, Eaglesoft, or Epic; familiarity with EMR systems is highly desirable.
- Strong knowledge of dental terminology, infection control standards, and aseptic techniques.
- Ability to operate dental X-ray machines safely and effectively; experience with 3D scanners is a plus.
- Excellent communication skills to interact confidently with patients of all ages, especially pediatrics.
- Knowledge of medical terminology, medical documentation practices, and medical coding procedures related to dental care.
