Our organization’s mission is to advance survivorship and provide support to those affected by lung cancer through research, education and access programs.


Position Summary

The Program Manager is responsible for ensuring that LCI’s programs support the lung cancer community at large and that programming meets the needs of lung cancer survivors, caregivers and other audiences in North and South Carolina. The Manager will work directly with the Chief Mission Delivery Officer to engage the lung cancer community in LCI programs including access, education, survivor engagement and volunteer engagement. The manager serves as a key contributor ensuring that critical aspects are completed in a timely and efficient manner and that results are monitored and communicated to the appropriate stakeholders. 

 

Responsibilities

•      Assist Chief Mission Delivery Officer in executing LCI’s education, access, awareness and volunteer programs that support and advance LCI’s mission and guide key initiatives, including researching and developing grant and sponsor possibilities for all programs, applying for grants, developing program plans, timelines and success metrics; providing logistical oversight; and working cross functionally to ensure all needs are considered and coordinated.

•      Collaborate with leadership to identify new outreach and engagement opportunities to increase public awareness, as well as participation and partnership opportunities; serve as a key contributor in the organization’s outreach and engagement efforts.

•      Develop and foster relationships with key stakeholders, including patients, survivors, loved ones, caregivers, volunteers, medical and research community, business partners and representatives from other key organizations and systems.

•      Manage the gas card and patient emergency fund programs, including researching funding opportunities, applying for funding, ensuring gas cards are distributed in a timely manner, identifying opportunities for growth in new communities, providing timely and accurate information to patients and hospitals, and monitoring the program throughout the year.

•      Manage the REACH grant program and serve as the staff liaison, including distributing information about the grant, receiving applications, and coordinating grant review with the REACH grant committee. The Manager serves as the primary LCI contact for grantees and will maintain regular communication and distribution of 6-month and final reports. This will also include leading outreach efforts to promote the program to new audiences and organizations.

•      Manage LCI’s volunteer program, including developing and implementing a plan to grow the volunteer program to increase opportunities and new ways in which to engage volunteers in LCI’s mission; overseeing volunteer onboarding and training, planning and executing volunteer events; and creating strategy and providing meaningful recognition of volunteers and their contributions. This will include recruitment of interns each semester and developing relationships within local universities to promote internship opportunities. This will also include collaborating with the Senior Director of Strategic Partnerships for the Ambassador program and providing support and resources were needed.

•      Lead community education initiatives through the management of LCI’s presence at health fairs and community presentations, development of educational materials, coordination of the Annual Meeting, the Advocacy Summit and others programs as identified. Lead efforts to recruit speakers, find locations and AV support as needed and identify topics for these events and serve as the primary point of contact for these events. Research opportunities for health fairs and presentations and recruit volunteers for the events, providing them with appropriate resources and materials.

•      Assist with research and development of LCI program materials, including talking points, fact sheets, presentations, background documents and website pages; ensuring data is up to date; and oversee and order supply of educational materials and distribute materials to cancer treatment centers and other venues for patient resources.

•      Assist the Survivor Liaison in getting survivor and caregiver events on the website, working with event venues, distributing the survivor newsletter out and other tasks as needed.

•      Attend external meetings relevant to LCI’s program initiatives and develop event summaries reporting learnings to LCI staff.

•      Track engagement efforts through LCI’s CRM database system and provide reporting on LCI programs and impact to leadership.

•      Demonstrate understanding of LCI mission and activities such that the individual positively represents the organization and brand with internal and external audiences.

•      Represent LCI at community events including health fairs, educational programs and corporate events.

•      Perform other duties as assigned.


Reporting

o  Report to Chief Mission Delivery Officer

o  Participate in/ report to (as needed) LCI Board meeting

Requirements

·     Bachelor’s Degree in Public Health or related field

·       2 years of community education and/or program experience in non-profit setting preferred 

·       Exceptional oral and written communications skills

·       Excellent organizational, time-management and project management skills and the capacity to successfully prioritize, work on and follow-through on multiple projects simultaneously and in a timely manner

·       Highly collaborative style; experience developing and implementing programs with multiple entities/stakeholders

•      Familiarity with key organizations, services, systems and leadership in the field of lung cancer in North Carolina

•      Valid driver’s license and ability to travel across North and occasionally to South Carolina up to 20% of time

•      Proficient in Microsoft Office, including Excel, MS Word and Publisher; experience with RENXT or Raisers Edge preferred

•      Demonstrated strong research and analytical capabilities

•      Excellent interpersonal and public relations skills

•      Proactive, able to work independently, and entrepreneurial; enjoys creating and implementing new initiatives
