Position Title: Lunenburg Middle School Head Football Coach
Season: Fall (with off-season responsibilities as assigned)
Reports To: Athletic Director / Principal
Position Summary
The Middle School Head Football Coach is responsible for leading and managing all aspects of the middle school football program. This includes planning, organizing, and supervising practices and games while fostering a positive, development-focused athletic experience for student-athletes.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan and conduct safe, effective, and developmentally appropriate practices
- Teach fundamental football skills, teamwork, sportsmanship, and character
- Supervise student-athletes during practices, games, and team activities
- Develop game strategies and manage in-game decision-making
- Communicate effectively with players, parents, school staff, and administration
- Ensure compliance with school division policies and VHSL/MS-level athletic guidelines
- Maintain inventory and care of equipment and uniforms
- Promote academic success and positive behavior among student-athletes
- Coordinate with the Athletic Director on scheduling, transportation, and program needs
Qualifications
- Previous coaching experience preferred (football experience strongly preferred)
- Knowledge of middle school athlete development and safety practices
- Ability to obtain/maintain required certifications (CPR/First Aid, concussion training, etc.)
- Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills
- Must meet all school division employment and background check requirements
