We are hiring experienced structural welders for a short-term shutdown project in Jessup, Maryland.
Project duration is approximately 7 weeks.
This is a traveling shutdown position — all candidates must pass a weld test at our shop in Portage, Utah prior to mobilization.
This is field structural work, not shop or production welding. Structural reinforcement of joists, beams, and columns.
Shutdown Project Details

Weld Test Information

- Weld test must be passed before travel is scheduled
Compensation & Travel
- Hourly pay: $20-35/ hr (DOE)
Per diem options (one applies):
- $100/day if lodging is NOT provided
- $50/day if company provides hotel
- Hotel will be shared, (roommate required)
- Hotel rooms include full sized fridge, microwave, dishwasher, and cutlery. Washer and dryers available at the hotel.
Additional travel details:
- Travel to Maryland provided after passing weld test
- Hotel provided when applicable
Requirements
- Proven experience with structural SMAW work
- Ability to weld 3G and 4G to AWS D1.1 standards
- Comfortable welding from scissor lifts
- Ability to work long hours and a shutdown pace
- Willing and able to:
- Travel to Portage, UT for weld testing
- Work in Maryland for the full shutdown duration
- Valid ID and legal authorization to work in the U.S.
- W-2 employment only
Important Notes
- This is a temporary shutdown position
- Permanent relocation is not required
- Operating area is listed for candidate sourcing purposes only
- Utah weld test is mandatory
- Roommate housing is required if hotel is provided
Pay: $ $35.03 per hour
Expected hours: 72.0 per week
