Duties
- Assist licensed nurses with patient care activities, including bathing, grooming, feeding, and mobility assistance using equipment such as Hoyer lifts.
- Monitor and record vital signs accurately, including blood pressure, pulse, respiration, and temperature, ensuring precise documentation in electronic health record (EHR) systems like Epic or Cerner.
- Support patients with activities of daily living (ADLs), emphasizing dignity and respect while maintaining safety protocols such as aseptic technique and infection control measures.
- Administer medications and treatments as directed by nursing staff, adhering to HIPAA regulations and medical terminology standards.
- Observe and report changes in patient condition promptly to the healthcare team, especially in critical care environments such as ICU or Level I Trauma Centers.
- Assist with specialized care needs including dementia care, Alzheimer's care, memory care, behavioral health support, and working with individuals with developmental disabilities or disabilities.
- Operate medical equipment such as catheters, IVs, oxygen therapy devices, and assist with procedures like phlebotomy when trained and authorized.
Requirements
- Valid State Tested Nursing Assistant (STNA) certification or equivalent licensure.
- Proven experience in diverse healthcare environments including long-term care facilities, hospitals (including ICU or trauma centers), assisted living communities, or home & community care settings.
- Knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy and physiology principles, and basic life support (BLS).
- Familiarity with EMR/EHR systems such as Epic, Cerner, eClinicalWorks or similar platforms for accurate medical documentation.
- Experience working with elderly populations in geriatrics or memory care settings; experience in acute or post-acute care is highly valued.
- Ability to perform physical tasks involving lifting equipment like Hoyer lifts and assist with patient mobility safely.
