Senior Splunk Engineer — Long-Term Contract | Austin, Texas (Onsite)
We are looking for Senior Splunk Engineers for a long-term contract opportunity in Austin, Texas. This is an onsite position.
Responsibilities
- Work within an enterprise architecture and DevSecOps tools team supporting a large-scale IT organization.
- Contribute to an enterprise logging initiative by onboarding numerous systems and data sources into Splunk.
- Ingest and manage data from network, cloud, server, and application sources.
- Perform operational monitoring and troubleshooting using Splunk, including searches, dashboards, and alerting workflows.
- Collaborate with cross-functional IT teams to ensure reliable data ingestion and actionable alerting.
- Support log onboarding and validation processes across multiple systems.
- Design and optimize Splunk dashboards and alerts to provide actionable insights.
- Develop KPI-driven visualizations, real-time and scheduled alerts, and anomaly-based detections.
- Tune and suppress alerts to reduce noise and improve operational efficiency.
- Align Splunk implementations with operational, security, and business use cases.
You:
- 4 years of hands-on experience with Splunk Enterprise and/or Splunk Cloud.
- 4 years of advanced proficiency in Search Processing Language (SPL), including writing optimized searches and tuning performance at scale.
- 4 years working with data onboarding, including source type design, field extraction (regex, props.conf, transforms.conf), timestamp recognition, and index strategy.
- 4 years managing Splunk Technology Add-ons (TAs) for data onboarding, normalization, and CIM alignment.
- 4 years working with Common Information Model (CIM) mapping.
- 4 years designing and building Splunk dashboards, alerts, and monitoring solutions.
- 2 years of exposure to cloud-native log sources (preferred).
- 2 years of familiarity with security tools such as EDR, IAM, firewalls, and IDS/IPS (preferred).
- 2 years of experience working in regulated environments (preferred).
- One or more Splunk certifications (e.g., Architect, Admin, Certified Consultant) (preferred).
