Position Summary
The Instructor Trainer is responsible for designing, developing, delivering, and maintaining technical training programs and instructional materials for software applications, IT systems, and operational support processes. This role supports both instructor-led and web-based learning initiatives while ensuring training content is clear, accessible, and aligned with organizational objectives and quality standards.
The ideal candidate is experienced in curriculum development, adult learning methodologies, multimedia instruction, and the delivery of technical training across a variety of software and IT environments.
Key Responsibilities
Training Development & Curriculum Design
Design, develop, implement, and maintain technical training curricula and instructional programs.
Create instructor-led, web-based, and multimedia training solutions, including eLearning modules, videos, simulations, workshops, and computer-based instruction.
Develop and maintain course outlines, lesson plans, technical documentation, instructional guides, training aids, and job aids.
Research and integrate innovative teaching strategies and alternative instructional methods to improve learner engagement and retention.
Assist in designing accessible training content that supports users with disabilities and complies with EIR accessibility standards.
Training Delivery
Deliver onsite and virtual technical training courses covering software applications, IT systems, security procedures, operational support processes, and related technologies.
Conduct classroom instruction, workshops, webinars, and hands-on training sessions.
Facilitate training for technical and non-technical audiences using approved curriculum and instructional standards.
Evaluate training effectiveness through assessments, testing, and learner feedback.
Program Support & Documentation
Format and edit training materials developed by internal staff to ensure consistency, clarity, and usability.
Assist in the development and maintenance of technical documentation and supplemental training resources.
Analyze training needs based on business processes, policy updates, and customer requirements.
Support productivity reporting and operational training initiatives across the organization.
Research and recommend training vendors, tools, learning platforms, and instructional resources.
Continuous Improvement
Stay current with emerging trends, technologies, and best practices in technical training, instructional design, and eLearning development.
Develop new instructional techniques, scenarios, and classroom strategies to maintain learner motivation and improve course effectiveness.
Conduct test analysis and revise assessments and training materials as needed.
Participate in the ongoing improvement of training infrastructure and information delivery systems.
Required Qualifications
Minimum 8 years of experience designing, developing, and implementing training curricula.
Minimum 5 years of experience delivering technical training related to:
Standard operating procedures
Software solutions
IT security
System installation and maintenance
Software programming
Operational support best practices
Experience developing instructor-led and web-based training programs, videos, and job aids.
Experience with Learning Management Systems (LMS) and eLearning authoring tools.
Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
Strong written, verbal, and presentation skills.
Ability to quickly learn and deliver training across multiple software platforms and technologies.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience delivering training in cloud-based technologies and environments.
Knowledge of accessibility standards and assistive technologies.
Experience supporting enterprise-level IT or government training initiatives.
