About the Role:
Lumos & Associates is looking to add dynamic, dedicated, and team-oriented people to our growing construction services division. The Construction Technician will perform a variety of construction tasks to support construction operations. The Construction Technician will produce drawings, reports, and calculations for roadway maintenance and rehabilitation projects. This position will learn a variety of construction related work tasks, develop construction related skills, and gain practical experience with opportunities to develop skills through exposure to projects from start to finish.
This is a full-time position, and the ideal candidate will demonstrate the ability to manage time effectively to meet deadlines and complete work within required time frames. The position will be based out of our Reno office and is responsible for providing field support to our Reno, Carson City, and Fallon offices.
Key Responsibilities:
- Performs construction administration tasks, including documenting activities, measuring materials, reviewing shop drawings, testing materials, and providing project oversight.
- Communicates effectively with project teams, clients, contractors, and stakeholders.
- Assists with CAD drafting, design, and preparation of plans, specifications, reports, and other deliverables, including roadway and pavement maintenance designs in AutoCAD.
- Supports preparation of bid packages, contract documents, technical specifications, and permit applications.
- Completes material quantity take-offs, cost estimates, technical reports, and permitting documents.
- Organizes project files, reports, correspondence, and applications.
- Conducts inspections, field testing, and verifies material quantities for monthly pay estimates.
- Assists with construction surveying/staking and completes daily inspection/testing reports.
- Manages multiple tasks effectively and prioritizes to meet deadlines.
- Maintains and operates company vehicle safely; reports repairs or safety concerns.
- Performs work safely and other duties as assigned.
What We Are Looking For:
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Minimum of one year of construction technician experience, preferred or a blend of education, experience, and/or relevant certifications.
- Computer proficient with knowledge of Microsoft Office products (Word/Excel/Outlook/PowerPoint).
- Ability to work in outdoor conditions and be physically capable of navigating rugged terrain for the purpose of performing the duties outlined above.
- Must be able to lift/move up to 75 pounds.
- Ability to travel regularly between offices with the use of a company vehicle.
- Valid driver's license and driving record with 3 or less demerit points.
The ideal candidate will possess the following certifications, or within six months of hire date:
- Nuke Density Gauge Operator
- NAQTC – Sampling/Density
- NAQTC – R66
- ACI – Field Technician I
- OSHA – 10
