The Elder Mentor at Lummi Nation K–12 School guides staff, students, families, and school leaders by sharing cultural wisdom and supporting the Lummi way of life, or Schelangen. This role helps students grow academically, socially, and emotionally through cultural teachings and mentorship. The Elder Mentor also helps lead cultural decisions in the school, encourages strong family and community involvement, and supports restorative, culturally respectful ways to handle behavior and learning challenges. Their work helps create a safe, respectful, and culturally rich school environment.
