Plant Controller – Aerospace & Space Manufacturing

The Company
A leading global aerospace and defense organization is seeking an experienced Plant Controller to support a rapidly scaling space propulsion manufacturing facility. This is a unique opportunity to join a business building next-generation electric propulsion systems for Low Earth Orbit satellites, with the new manufacturing facility expected to begin delivering propulsion systems in the coming year. The Plant Controller will play a critical role in establishing and managing the financial operations of the facility, ensuring robust financial control while supporting the scale-up of a highly technical aerospace manufacturing environment.
The Role
Reporting to the CFO, the Plant Controller will be responsible for overseeing all financial operations of the manufacturing site. This role combines financial control, operational finance, and strategic support to ensure the facility operates efficiently while scaling production.
Key responsibilities include:
- Lead all plant-level financial management and reporting.
- Own budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning for the manufacturing site.
- Monitor and analyze manufacturing cost structures, margins, and operational performance.
- Implement strong financial controls, processes, and compliance frameworks.
- Partner closely with engineering, operations, and manufacturing leadership.
- Support capital investment planning and facility scale-up.
- Deliver insights that help drive profitability, efficiency, and cash flow performance.
- Work closely with corporate finance teams to ensure alignment with broader financial strategy.
What We’re Looking For
- 10 years of finance experience, ideally within aerospace, defense, or advanced manufacturing.
- Prior experience as a Plant Controller or senior manufacturing finance leader.
- Strong expertise in cost accounting, manufacturing finance, and operational finance.
- Ability to operate in a high-growth, technically complex environment.
- Experience building or improving financial processes within scaling facilities.
- Strong stakeholder management across engineering, operations, and executive leadership.
