Our client is a venture-backed space technology company developing advanced spacecraft platforms for commercial and national security missions. As the organization scales from development into sustained production and flight operations, they are seeking a Senior Manager of Avionics to lead the design, integration, and delivery of mission-critical flight electronics.

What You’ll Do:

  • Lead the end-to-end development of spacecraft avionics systems, including flight computers, power distribution, communications, sensors, and data handling.
  • Manage and grow a multidisciplinary avionics team spanning hardware, firmware, and integration engineering.
  • Own avionics architecture decisions, ensuring alignment with system-level requirements and mission objectives.
  • Drive hardware development from concept through design, integration, qualification, and flight readiness.
  • Partner closely with systems engineering, software, propulsion, GNC, and manufacturing teams to ensure seamless subsystem integration.
  • Establish avionics standards, documentation practices, and configuration control processes to support scale and repeatability.
  • Oversee vendor selection, component qualification, and supply chain coordination for high-reliability electronics.

  • Solid understanding of space-rated electronics constraints, including radiation tolerance, power budgets, and thermal considerations.
  • Ability to balance technical rigor with execution speed in a fast-paced environment.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related field (advanced degree preferred).

Your Ideal Background:

  • 8 years of experience in avionics, aerospace electronics, or spacecraft electrical systems.
  • Direct ownership of at least one flight avionics system through integration and launch.
  • Experience scaling avionics teams in a growth-stage or NewSpace environment.
  • Familiarity with hardware-in-the-loop testing, embedded systems, and flight software interfaces.
  • Strong systems mindset with the ability to operate effectively across multiple engineering disciplines.
