Job Summary: The Family Worker develops and maintains relationships with community partners and families to ensure that they receive comprehensive services through their participation in the program. Recruitment is a vital part of our program and is a major responsibility of this role. Ensures compliance with all Head Start and Early Head Start Performance Standards (at applicable site).

Essential Job Functions:

• Recruitment
• Develops and implements Parent, Family and Community Engagement goals in collaboration with program staff.
• Responsible for recruitment and enrollment of families and maintaining enrollment throughout the year.
• Organizes and maintains complete, accurate, up-to-date records for children.
• Collaborate to recruit children with disabilities into the program.
• Builds respectful, culturally sensitive relationships with families.
• Communicates effectively with families through written and oral communication.
• Encourages families to participate in program activities, parent meetings, parent teacher conferences, and parent workshops.
• Ensures all child health (medical and dental) records are up to date.
• Update Allergy and Asthma list monthly.
• Ensure that all child tuition documentation are up to date.
• Helps plan and facilitate parent meetings, trainings, and family activities.
• 100% of all child's files will be audited monthly (including ProCare Case Note).
• Update Vendor Portal.
• Assists families in developing and implementing Family Partnership Agreements in order to encourage and promote their overall development including achievement of self sufficiency as well as positive developmental outcomes for their children.
• Collaborates with education staff to communicate regarding family and child progress and needs and to facilitate children’s transitions.
• Collaborates to support parent involvement in all aspects of the program. Maintain Parent Resource area and Parent Bulletin Boards.
• Follows up with child absenteeism, working with the parent to address barriers to regular attendance as needed.
• Works with and supports parents in getting services for health, dental, nutritional and disability needs. Document in ProCare.
• Works with and supports parents in getting services for health, dental, nutritional and disability needs. Provides support to parents in their role as advocates for their children.
• Ensures accurate and timely entry of all required child and family information.
• Work in collaboration to monitor, track, and coordinate services for children and families.
• Ensures that health documents are complete and up to date.
• Appropriately documents all contacts with families in case notes.
• Participate in (when possible) all IEP meetings and parent teacher conferences.
• Works to develop and maintain community partnership agreements.
• Is aware of resources within the community to support the needs of families and makes appropriate referrals.

• Collects family demographic and program information to determine resources needed.

Qualifications:

• BA degree in social work, human services, child development or a related field, or an AA or the equivalent.
• Three or more years of experience in family services in the early childhood sector.
• This position requires professional fluency in both English and Spanish.
• Must have transportation.
• Clearance of background check by Office of Children and Family Services.
• A biannual physical examination and test are required as condition of initial employment and continued employment.
